Each Sunday, families come to our 9:30 Family Service, with it’s Sunday School for the young ones, and this is followed by our 11:00 Worship, with choir (in season).
Our services are full of joyous song and inspiring messages for life, and worship of a higher power than ourselves.
We are blessed by the light that surrounds us in this house of worship, and the special energy of love and acceptance that we all feel in this hallowed place, dedicated to the worship of God for almost 200 years.
St. James is symbolically open to God and to the world, a fact we are reminded of as we look out at the beautiful sky and ocean, part of God’s great creation. The light within and the light without join in celebration and song.
And we are blessed during the winter season with a choir that adds to the spirit of worship and lifts our hearts and souls. (see selected recordings at http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCA69XhZRAyR9ZDoK3wvxpHQ/videos)
It’s the start of a new season after the summer break. St. James Methodist Church in Hope Town, Abaco, The Bahamas, is getting itself ready to welcome back all our regular guests from away, second home owners, and new arrivals, for another year of worship. While the main church for the local community for almost 200 years, St. James also opens its doors to all those who visit and reside in the Abacos and wish to share in our celebration of God. The world, as big as it is, comes together every Sunday in St. James in the form of people from every corner of the globe and every path of life. This tiny cay between the Atlantic and the Caribbean sea with its tiny church is a large spiritual home to many, who come seeking for peace and tranquility of spirit and soul, as much as mind and body.
Matt. 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matt. 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
